About Us
ScreenProfits.com
Everyone knows what a movie makes at the box office. Almost nobody knows what it actually earns. That’s the question ScreenProfits.com was built to answer.
ScreenProfits is a movie data site dedicated to the business side of film. We track and publish the numbers behind the industry — box office grosses, production budgets, marketing spend, home entertainment and streaming revenue — and bring them together to estimate the figure Hollywood rarely talks about: profit.
Our Data
The data on ScreenProfits is our own. Using a proprietary methodology, we compile figures from across the industry, apply our own calculations and assumptions, and produce original estimates of what movies really cost and what they really return. Studios almost never disclose official profit numbers, so our estimates are informed approximations — built to be as honest and consistent as possible, and clearly labeled as estimates.
We update our database regularly as new figures are reported and older ones are revised. When the numbers change, so do we.
Who We’re For
ScreenProfits is for movie fans, film business watchers, students, journalists, and anyone curious about which films made money, which ones lost it, and why. If you’ve ever wondered whether a “flop” actually flopped or a “hit” actually paid off, you’re in the right place.
You’re welcome to reference our data for personal, non-commercial use — just credit ScreenProfits.com and link back to the page you found it on.
Stay in the Loop
The best way to follow the numbers is our free email subscription. Subscribers get full access to the site along with data updates and new analysis as it’s published.
