Synopsis
Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep and Julianne Moore starred in the 2002 film adaptation of Michael Cunningham's novel "The Hours." Twenty years later, the story made its way into the world of opera when the opera of the same name premiered at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. The production was a huge success, with music by Kevin Puts and starring Joyce DiDonato, Renée Fleming and Kelli O'Hara in the leading roles, the former as Virginia Woolf. Like the novel and the film, the opera follows three women - all with Virginia Woolf's novel Mrs. Dalloway as their common denominator - and the plot unfolds in three parallel timelines.
